Game On, Play Fair! – Essential Rules & Regulations for a Smooth and Competitive Tournament

Rules & Key Information

Please review the following rules and guidelines carefully before registering for the tournament.

✅ Eligibility

  • Open to Indian nationals in Egypt and ICAE-approved communities

  • Non-Indian participants must obtain prior approval via email:
    ibc.community.eg@gmail.com

🏆 Event Categories

  • Under 16 – Singles (No gender)

  • 16–25 – Singles, Doubles & Mixed (for both men and women separately )

  • 26–50 – Singles, Doubles & Mixed (for both men and women separately )

  • Above 50 – Singles (No gender)

    Category Flexibility & Disqualification

    Players have the option to compete in categories outside their age group, subject to the following strict conditions:

    • Junior Category (Under 16):

      • U16 players may enter the 16–25 category for Singles, Doubles, or Mixed Doubles.

      • Disqualification Rule: If a U16 player enters the 16–25 Singles, they are automatically disqualified from the Under 16 Singles event.

    • Senior Category (50+):

      • 50+ players may enter the 26–50 category for Singles, Doubles, or Mixed Doubles.

      • Disqualification Rule: If a 50+ player enters the 26–50 Singles, they are automatically disqualified from the 50+ Singles event.

    ⚠️ Important Note: Cross-Category Confirmation

    Any player entering a different age category (Under 16 joining 16–25 or 50+ joining 26–50) must follow this mandatory procedure:

    1. Select the category manually in the registration form.

    2. Send an email to IBC (International Badminton Club) requesting official authorization for the cross-category entry.

    3. Hold the confirmation email received from IBC as your official proof of entry. This email confirms your change of category and your disqualification from your original age-group singles.

🎯 Tournament Format

  • Knockout format

  • Early rounds: Format will be finalized after registration closes

  • Semi-finals & Finals: Best of 3 sets (21 points each)

📏 Match Rules

  • Matches will follow official Badminton World Federation (BWF) rules for service and scoring

🔁 Interruption & Replay Rules

  • If a shuttle enters from another court during a rally, the point will be replayed (let)

  • If the shuttle hits the roof, the rally will also be replayed (let)

  • If a player/team causes the shuttle to hit the roof more than twice in a single match, a point will be awarded to the opponent

⏰ Reporting & Walkover

  • Players must report by 8:00 AM on match day

  • A delay of 10 minutes after match call may result in a walkover

  • Exceptions for late arrival:

💳 Court Fees

  • Court fees are applicable (varies by event category)

  • Payment deadline: 22 April 2026

  • Non-payment will result in removal from the tournament

  • No refunds after registration closes

📝 Registration & Changes

  • Registration deadline: 19 April 2026, 10:00 PM

  • Withdrawals must be completed before the deadline

  • No refunds after the deadline (courts are pre-booked)

  • Doubles partner changes:

    • Require prior approval via email

    • Must be requested at least 2 days before the tournament

📊 Category Policy

  • Categories with fewer than 4 registrations are subject to cancellation or may be merged with another age category at the sole discretion of the IBC Committee.

  • In such cases of cancellation of event, full refunds will be provided

🎽 Equipment

  • Players must bring their own rackets

  • Non-marking shoes are mandatory

⚖️ Conduct & Discipline

  • Players must maintain proper discipline at all times

  • Misconduct may result in disqualification

  • Smoking is strictly prohibited

  • Referee decisions are final and binding

🩺 Injury & Liability

  • Maximum 5-minute medical timeout allowed

  • Players are responsible for any injuries sustained during play

  • Rules may be updated if necessary to ensure fair and smooth tournament operations
